Applications are being accepted for a postdoctoral researcher position on the Kuopio campus at the University of Eastern Finland. Starting on October 1, 2024, or as previously agreed, the post will be occupied for a two-year term with the possibility of extension for an extra one to two years.
Project Information
The project’s main goal is to investigate the functional effects of particular cis-regulatory variations linked to ASCVD that have been found in GWAS studies. Initially, the study will evaluate the effects of these variations on the regulation of genes in two important vascular types smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells. After the identification of important regulatory variations, these genes will be directly modified in subsequent studies utilizing CRISPR activation (CRISPRa) and CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) to see how these changes affect cellular responses and more general patterns of gene expression. In order to understand the mechanisms, roles, and pathways underlying ASCVD risk, convergences around gene regulatory networks will be found using the collected data.
Requirements
- A PhD or equivalent in a field relevant to the project.
- Proven research expertise, ideally in the domains of genetics, genomics, biotechnology, molecular biology, bioinformatics, or cardiovascular research, or a closely connected subject.
- Ability to manipulate genetic manipulation tools (e.g., CRISPR) and/or culture mammalian cells using high-throughput genomic techniques and data analysis.
- Should have strong publications.
- Proficiency in all forms of English.
Deadline and Application
Deadline for the application is on 05 August 2024. For more details and application, visit the official website.
