In the Bioinformatics in Life Science environment at the Department of Biosciences (IBV), University of Oslo, there is a position available as a PhD Research Fellow in Bioinformatics and Gene Regulation. The anticipated commencement date is October 1, 2025, at the latest.
Project Description
The PhD project aims to investigate how several levels of gene expression regulation, such as transcription initiation, translation, and DNA packaging, interact to regulate gene activity. The initiative aims to bring new insights into basic biological processes related to health and illness by bridging traditionally disparate fields of study through the use of an integrated computational biology approach.
QUalifications and Requirements
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, computational biology, data science, or related fields. Foreign completed degrees (M.Sc.-level) must correspond to a minimum of four years in the Norwegian educational system
- Experience with high-throughput sequencing omics data analysis
- Proficiency in programming with Python, R, or C++
- Familiarity with statistical and machine learning techniques.
- Knowledge about molecular biology and/or gene regulation.
- Experience with nanopore sequencing, Hi-C, ribosome profiling, or CAGE data analysis.
- Experience with software development.
- Experience with Nextflow or Snakemake.
Deadline and Application
The deadline for the application is 28 February 2025. For more details and application visit the official website.
