Postdoctoral Fellows Program – Cornell Institute of Host-Microbe Interactions and Disease

Project Info

Postdoctoral scholars interested in researching host-microbe interactions can receive financial assistance and chances for professional development from the Cornell Institute of Host-Microbe Interactions and Disease (CIHMID). CIHMID postdocs will get professional development opportunities during the academic year and summer, as well as help in developing research programmes in conjunction with two or more Cornell labs. It is expected of CIHMID postdocs to take intellectual ownership of their projects and to use their support to create connections across various fields of research. Eukaryotic hosts can be either plants or animals, and pathogenic or helpful microbes can be microbial partners in the studied host-microbe interactions. Supporting a broad range of research systems and issues is one of the training program’s stated objectives.

Requirements

  • The intended study plan should focus on a broad yet well-informed group of biologists. The planned project’s research aims and how it would further the applicant’s eventual career aspirations should be included in the application, along with the project’s duration.
  • The diversity and inclusion statements that applicants provide can be used to highlight their experiences, beliefs, and planned or actual activity in that area.
  • It is necessary to have a Statement of Support from the advisory group. The applicant’s skills and potential as a research scientist should be discussed in this letter. The advisor statement should also contain a brief explanation of the plan for guiding the applicant towards self-sufficiency and the accomplishment of their professional objectives. After the fellowship year, the main adviser must guarantee that the host lab will continue to sponsor the project for at least another year. The application portal will automatically request advising letters. The mentorship group may send in one letter that is co-signed.
  • Candidates must have a Ph.D. when their tenure starts.

Deadline

The closing date of the application is on 17 June 2024.
