PhD Position in Cytokine Signaling in Macrophages – Amsterdam UMC

Project Info

Beyond the well-known JAK-STAT signaling pathways, the candidate will study cytokine signaling pathways in macrophages. Disease states are influenced by the way macrophage phenotypes are shaped by cytokines. It is unknown how cytokine-specific responses might arise because numerous cytokines with opposite roles use very similar JAK-STAT signalling pathways. Finding new, cytokine-specific variables controlling macrophage cytokine responses is the aim.

Requirements

  1. You hold a master’s degree in biomedical sciences, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or (medical) biology;

  3. You’re willing to pick up skills in bioinformatics and transcriptomic and genomic data analysis;
  4. You have outstanding oral and written English communication abilities;
  5. Preferably, you have experience with bioinformatics (such as using R).

PhD Position in Microbiome Research | University of Copenhagen

Sun Jun 2 , 2024
The effort expands on their earlier research indicating that variations in the community structures of the gut microbiome may impact energy extraction. By integrating conventional faecal measures, bomb calorimetry, and cutting-edge omics technologies with a human dietary intervention trial, the GutEnergy project will examine whether variations in gut microbiome community architectures impact the excretion of food calories in faeces. Deadline: 04 August 2024
