Role Overview
As a Senior Biotechnologist Downstream, you will be at the heart of AbbVie’s mission to deliver life-changing medicines. You will perform essential functions associated with cGMP manufacturing operations within a state-of-the-art biologics production facility. This position requires a Subject Matter Expert (SME) who can drive process improvements and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities

Purification Operations: Executing large-scale purification tasks, including column chromatography, tangential flow filtration (TFF), viral filtration, and bulk filling in gloveboxes.

Systems Management: Utilizing advanced computerized systems such as DeltaV, SAP, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for precise process control.

Leadership & Coaching: Mentoring junior biotechnologists and fostering a nurturing team culture centered on AbbVie’s core values.

Troubleshooting: Leading efforts to resolve complex process and equipment issues to maintain production schedules.

Documentation: Ensuring all batch documentation is completed accurately and strictly adheres to global safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in a Biologics Production facility, with a minimum of 3 years specifically in large-scale GMP purification.

Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with downstream processing equipment and the ability to operate independently on complex assignments.

Availability: Must be comfortable working in a cleanroom environment and performing shift work as required.
